The big day has arrived! Apple just revealed the new iPhone 16, along with its other new products and software updates. If you missed the event or just want a quick rundown, you’re in the right place. Apple announced important things, but also there were a few absurd announcements as in every year, but that’s not a surprise. What matters is that we have new devices and a software update that looks very cool.
Let’s talk about the new iPhone. The camera got a big upgrade, now having a 48 MP camera. Thanks to its new A18 Pro chip, which is 35% more efficient and powerful than its predecessor, it can capture amazing 4K cinematic footage. This was shown in the new video of The Weeknd, where machine learning can focus on important details in a scene. Apple’s intelligence is a big part of the latest iPhone together with the IOS 18 update which by the way is launching next Monday, September 16, and Apple didn’t hesitate to show its capabilities in everyday use as when we attend emails, navigate through the Photo app, etc. The chassis looks very similar to older models, but I don’t think that’s a big deal. It’s something everyone expected, and if it was different, there wouldn’t be as many sales as there are. And talking about sales, its price starts at $799 and is coming on Sept. 20 as well as the other devices.
The Apple Watch is celebrating its tenth anniversary, something important had to occur today and it did, this device is receiving incredible updates as a new design, in fact, the new design is the thinnest and lightest ever, with a larger display and rounded corners. The OLED display is wider 40% lighter and energy efficient. Best part? The battery charges super fast, just 30 minutes is required for a full charge. Plus, the new chip brings in some Apple Intelligence features, but don’t wait too much, it’s a watch we’re talking about. They also introduced the Ultra 2 version, but it didn’t impress many with its few unimportant changes. The starting price for the new watch is $399.
Did you notice the new AirPods 4 today? It looked really elegant as usual, but what really turned heads was the addition of active noise cancellation without the need for an ear tip, it also brings personalized spatial audio, all thanks to its new H2 chip, but it will only be available if you buy a specific version. The AirPods Pro focuses on auditory health, with an audio test also available on the iPhone to help detect any health issues and customize the listening experience through the different apps. The AirPods Max presentation was another joke from Apple because it incorporates a USB C port and comes in more «wonderful» colors. That’s it.
I just want to say that the recent Apple event left a lot to be desired. Some of the announcements, like the AirPods Max, seemed kind of absurd. If you really need the new iPhone 16, go for it, but you won’t notice much of a difference unless there’s a specific exclusive feature you really want. The AirPods 4 are cool though, and some people are saying it sounds even better than the previous version. I’m curious to test out that Active noise cancelation. The new watch, with its larger display and more efficient battery, seems like a good buy to me, although I’ll wait for the reviews first. Personally, the only thing that really excites me is Apple Intelligence, I think it’s going to change the game in the Apple ecosystem. I can’t wait to see what they do with MacOS 15.
